Get the Flash Player to see the videos.

The 2010 Star Road Star Silverado and Silverado S are ready for the long haul and don’t mind letting everyone notice this fact. Packed with floating floorboards, a tall windscreen passenger backrest as well as with hard-shell sidebags, the Silverados are comfortable and offer plenty loading capacity.

And the extra load is properly dealed with loads of torque and a harmonious rumble provided by the 102-cubic-inch V-twin engine powering the two cruisers.

Saxon Motorcycles again in The World´s Greatest Motorcycle Rides

Henry Cole is back with a new series of The World´s Greatest Motorcycle Rides and we have just found out that the Travel Channel presenter will swing his leg again on a Saxon Motorcycle. The European motorcycle company sent us a press release to help spread the news, so find it attached after the jump. You can also watch videos from the previous season. Enjoy!

Star Road Star S

Star Road Star S

Star builds the Road Star S and Road Star following the classic recipe, but adds a high-tech fuel injection system as well as a range of distinctive features that have become this maker’s emblems by now. Features such as the belt final drive, 9-spoke cast wheels as well as the amazing fit and finish are setting Star apart from the rest of the Japanese crowd and closer and closer to Harley-Davidson built quality.

The two classic Road Star models address to mature and experienced riders who demand the most from a cruising-type motorcycle and also prefer the possibility of accessorizing their standard bikes instead of going for those touring Silverado ones that Star also offers.

The Icon by Lorenzo Cycles

This is the latest motorcycle made by Lorenzo Cycles, it is called The Icon and it will be produced in a limited number of only 13 units. The chopper is a beautiful result of the small company teaming up with custom bike builder Eddie Trotta, who substitutes Ralph Randolph, the creator of the first two bikes.

We happen to like The Icon, but feel there is much more potential waiting to be exploited from the new company. Also, the specs – which you can read after the break – are in accordance with any renegade’s standards.

The first clock specially made for bikers!

The first clock specially made for bikers!

This is a wall clock conceived specially for motorcycle lovers and not only. It runs thanks to a small motor that moves a bicycle chain on which you will find attached the numbers, totalizing 12 hours.

But this thing has actually exceeded the conceptual faze and it is now a very exquisite item that surely won’t end up on the garage wall. That is mostly because of the $2.338 tag price, but if only things were that easy. You actually have to order and pay this wall clock for motorcycle enthusiasts and then wait four months until being delivered to you.

I reckon most bikers have an engineer side and can end up with something similar for as little as 50 bucks in less time, so why bother?

Ducati RAD02 Imola café racer by Radical Ducati

Ducati RAD02 Imola café racer by Radical Ducati

In order to pay a tribute to the 750SS Imola, Ducati’s notorious sportbike from the 1970s, Spain-based Radical Ducati has created an absolutely gorgeous café racer, which was recently revealed. They call it the RAD02 Imola and it is built for track use, but we hear it can be homologated with a few tweaks.

The engine is a 900SSie unit with hot cams, while the chassis is that of a Monster S4R with 749S fully-adjustable forks and MV Agusta ride-height adjuster. Also note the asymmetric megaphone cans, which we happen to like a lot.

The Spanish Ducati builders are already taking orders and mention that the price depends on the exact specs. Still, considering the hours spent to achieve this kind of built quality, the Ducati RAD02 Imola café racer addresses to riders with deep pockets.

ThermaHelm Cooling Helmet can turn out to be a live saver [w/video]

ThermaHelm Cooling Helmet can turn out to be a live saver [w/video]

Brain swelling is the immediate effect of head injury and it is a proved fact that the stopping of this effect can make the difference between life and death because of the pressure that the brain has to subdue when it meets the skull. This is precisely what paramedics are trying to prevent when applying a cold pack on the head of accident victims. So hearing about ThermaHelm having created the Brain Cooling Helmet, we started digging deeper into this potential life saving idea, only to find that the prototype stage is now completed and it should see production.

ThermaHelm’s Cooling Helmet works by storing separately gel or water and ammonium nitrate in a slim plastic packet positioned in the lining. During a serious crash, tiny spikes pierce through the separate compartments, causing the ammonium nitrate to mix with the gel or water, triggering an endothermic reaction that cools the brain, dramatically reducing the effects of the crash. Furthermore, it features an LED indicator that warns premature activation, small cameras that are able to record those crucial 60 seconds before a motorcycle crash, integrated Bluetooth headphones and fog-free visors. In other words, it brings helmets into the 21st century.

Press release and video are attached after the jump.

Star Stratoliner

Star Stratoliner

Star Motorcycles really overpass themselves with the 2009 Stratoliner models as these were not only impressively powerful and offered great road behavior – like all other model years before them –, but also stood out in the style chapter. Truly unique motorcycles not only in their manufacturer’s lineup, but among all other big displacement cruisers available on the market today, with each year that passed by, the Stratoliners only demanded some new color schemes and they were good to go. For 2010, things are different as Star launched the all-new Stratoliner Deluxe and carries on producing the Stratoliner S without any upgrades, while the standard Stratoliner will only sell as a 2009 model year.

Whether that’s good or bad, we cannot yet say, but we can say a thing or two about these 2010 models that caught our attention.

Suzuki Katana 1100 by Steve Adams

It is enough to take one look at this 1980s Suzuki Katana 1100 to see that the bike is hours and hours of work away from its original state and all the credit goes to UK-based Steve Adams, owner and customizer of what turned out to be one of the most beautifully reinvented legends among Japanese motorcycles.

Among the modifications brought to our Brit’s Katana we would have to name the 1,170cc Wiseco piston kit, gas flowed head, EFE 1100 cams with adjustable cam sprockets, Keihin 37mm carbs, titanium bolts and custom-made exhaust system as being the most important and this is only in the engine department.

The frame was reinforced and a Suzuki Bandit 1200 swingarm was bolted on it. This Suzuki now rolls on 17-inch Dymag magnesium alloy wheels supported by a GSX-R750 K4 front fork and Ohlins rear shock units. The high performance brakes feature Yamaha R1 and Suzuki TL1000 parts such as the Brembo radial master cylinder up front, while the rear brake is thumb-operated.

How’s that for a way to make an old motorcycle new again?

During no less than two years, we’ve seen the new Ducati Multistrada being developed, rendered and tested until finally finding out that two versions will be available – a standard version with optional ABS and a high-spec S version (how does an Ohlins electronically adjustable suspension system sound to you?). This last ramifies into two editions – Sport and Touring.

The Sport Edition can be distinguished by the presence of carbon fiber parts such as the engine covers, front air intakes, rear mudguard and spoilers.

The Buell that never was

The Buell that never was

As you all know, Buell Motorcycles are dead and gone, but after the brand was killed by HD, people have began to speculate about the last project that Buell was working at. It all started from this photography taken by John Hanson, a contributing photographer for Road Racer X, in the Milwaukee area.

The word is out that Buell had prepared an 1199cc V-twin for what was to become a high performance American superbike. This prototype was surely contoured around the idea of more power and less weight than the 1125R, which could have translated into Buell turning to WSBK. All hope vanished when HD made the radical decision to discontinue Buell. Sad, too sad!

Honda Shadow RS 750

Honda Shadow RS 750

Honda has taken the wraps off a new Shadow model that they call RS 750. The bike is addressed to beginners and, with its fuel-injected and liquid-cooled 745cc V-Twin engine producing 42bhp and 45ft lb of torque, goes straight against the Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883.

Compared to the classic Shadow cruiser, the RS 750 offers higher bars and pegs as well as a low seat height of 737mm / 29in, meaning a more upright riding position as a result of Honda’s strategy to offer all-round riding enjoyment.

Obviously, it is all made possibly by the use of the double-cradle steel tube frame and 41mm forks, but beginning riders will surely appreciate the fat 150-section rear tire that makes the 2010 Honda Shadow RS 750 look like a mean machine after all.

Honda hasn’t yet released the specs sheet for this model, but we do know that the new Shadow RS 750 will have an MSRP of $7799 when it will be available in March 2010. This was also established with the 2009 Iron 883 ($7899) as benchmark. The only sad part about this new Japanese cruiser going against the popular American model is that it will be available only in Metallic Grey.

Expect more information on the Shadow RS as soon as we have it.

BMW has recently revealed the HP2 Sport Motorsport, a limited edition of the HP2 Sport, which will be available in Europe in a limited number of only 400 units.

The Motorsport edition stands apart from the standard model thanks to the special color scheme, identical with that of the motorcycle with which BMW participated in the World Endurance Championship.

Until the release of the S 1000 RR superbike, the HP2 Sport was the sportiest model in the German manufacturer’s model range, while also representing the technological pinnacle in matter of boxer engines. The air/oil cooled two-cylinder engine develops 133hp and 115 Nm and the bike has a dry weight of only 178 kg / 392.4 lbs. Hit the jump for a video of the standard model in action.

Moto Guzzi V7 Clubman Racer

Moto Guzzi’s V7 family now has a new member, which is willing to teach motorcyclists a thing or two about the ways they can enjoy riding the world’s greatest machine with wheels as long as they open their eyes and prick up their ears. Unveiled last week in Milan, the 2010 Moto Guzzi V7 Clubman Racer is reminiscent of 1970s Italian café racers. Then, as now, these were machines that handled beautifully and stopped fast, managing to compete with Japanese bikes with seriously more horsepower available at the rear wheel.

With a 744cc V-twin developing only 48.8 hp and 58.2 Nm, but featuring a beautifully crafted frame, upgraded suspension and brakes, the 2010 Moto Guzzi V7 Clubman Racer remains faithful to original recipe and addresses to nostalgics of the period. Also featuring wrapped headers and upswept Arrow exhuasts, polished aluminum tank, rearsets and clip-ons as well as Pirelli Demon Sport tires, I guess you can look at it as to a V7 Classic with a soft spot for races. BMW Motorrad Concept 6

Get the Flash Player to see the videos.

BMW has used their experience from building straight six engines for cars into creating a modern café racer concept powered by a six-cylinder engine displacing 1600cc. This means 266cc for each cylinder of the so-called BMW Motorrad Concept 6, which won’t see the production line pretty soon, but word is out that the German car and motorcycle manufacturer will use this precise engine on their next LT grand touring model.

Surely, this isn’t the first two-wheeler powered by an inline six as Honda had the CBX1000 in 1978, but the impressive part about the modern bike is the fact that it is so narrow for this type of engine rarely used on motorcycles. But when it is used it smoothly delivers impressive amounts of torque, which is why we have great expectations in what regards BMW’s future touring lineup. Moto Guzzi unveils three amazing concepts at EICMA 2009: V12 LeMans, V12 X and V12 Strada

V12 LeMans, V12 X and V12 Strada

At this year’s EICMA show in Milan, Moto Guzzi made one of the most inspired moves in the Italian brand’s recent history when taking the wraps off of an impressive triangle of concepts. This is formed from the Moto Guzzi V12 Le Mans, V12 X and V12 Strada and represents the work of Miguel Galluzzi and Pierre Terblanche.

The two designers thought at borrowing the 1,200cc V-twin from the Norge GT and mounting it on two roadsters (the LeMans and X) and a supermoto model (the Strada) in an attempt to give Moto Guzzi a new, more aggressive design based on innovation.

Miguel Galluzzi, head of Piaggio Group’s styling centre said: ‘There is an impalpable, yet very real force in the history of Moto Guzzi. It lies in the ideas and in the unrelenting research work that led Moto Guzzi to build its tradition on innovation.’

Galluzzi, who also signed the Aprilia RSV4, ended by saying: ‘Keep an eye on Moto Guzzi because this is just the first step. We are back to relying on ideas, and we have plenty of them. This is just the beginning.’

I believe we shall do so, don’t we?

2010 Triumph Speed Triple SE

While this Triumph Speed Triple SE might look like a standard model with a racy look achieved with the use of a flyscreen, seat cowl and a red/white stripe or red/black stripe color scheme, we would have to say that this show bike is actually meant to promote Triumph’s partnership with Ohlins.

The British Speed Triples will come with Swedish suspension components in 2010. The modified internals in the forks and shocks offer greater damping capabilities while the rear shock gains a five percent softer rear spring. The changes will reduce fork dive, offer greater suspension control and also stand for more comfortable rides.

Hmm, this is a rather facile way of upgrading an already great roadster and it doesn’t all fall in the hands of Triumph.

Suter SRT 500 V4 - the GP two-stroke motorcycle for anyone to buy

The Swiss specialists from Suter Racing have teamed up with Italian builder Paton to launch on the market a MotoGP bike powered by a two-stroke V4 engine.

Suter Racing is highly experienced in building racing prototypes and they have even participated at the 2007 MotoGP World Championship with the Ilmor X3 prototype. Now, the Swiss are preparing their debut in the Moto2 championship with a new prototype. At the base of the company is Eskil Suter, an ex-Grand Prix pilot in the 250 and 500cc classes.

The Suter SRT 500 prototype was presented at Milano with the occasion of the 2009 EICMA show. The chassis is similar to that used on the Ilmor X3 and it is part of a real MotoGP bike that weighs 125 kg/ 275.5 lbs and benefits of precisely 200 hp developed by the two-stroke V4 of 500cc.

Suter says he went along with this project because "there was never really a proper 500cc V4 two-stroke people could buy," and they turned out with a prototype that “makes a MotoGP bike feel like a tractor."

Starting at $74,345, the SRT 500 V4 isn’t exactly for anyone, but it’s three times cheaper than any MotoGP bike. Still, customers are offered the possibility to add parts such as carbon rims, SBK forks and a titan exhaust system, raising the price to as much as $134,000.

2010 Aprilia Dorsoduro Factory

Aprilia plays with the 2010 Dorsoduro Factory and we’ve just got our hands on the leaked pictures showing that. While the standard version is very aggressive already, just like the Italians like their bikes to look, the Factory adds carbon fiber parts and a black frame, achieving an overall much more aggressive result.

In what the engine is concerned, this remains the 749.9cc twin developing 92 hp at 8,750 rpm and 60lb/ft at 4,500 rpm. While these numbers are more than decent for a midsized super motard, the engine also works closely together with the “Ride by Wire” system, which is available in three modes: sport, touring and rain.

The suspension equipment now translates into a Sachs kit, which is adjustable to as much as 45mm, while the braking system maintains the same 320mm discs and now works with four-piston Brembo calipers. The sad part is that ABS doesn’t find its place in this equation, like in the case of the standard version.

Expect the Dorsoduro Factory to gather quite a crowd at Aprilia’s EICMA stand this year.

Mavizen takes the wraps off 130mph TTX02 electric racebike at SEMA

The SEMA Show in Las Vegas is all about standing out from the crowd in a way or another and the 2009 edition turned out to be the ideal occasion for Azhar Hussain, TTXGP founder, to officially unveil the TTX02 electric racebike.

This is the 2010 production version of the exact same bike that won the 2009 TTXGP Isle of Man Electric Motorcycle TT race and it is powered by twin Agni 95 electric motors providing a great deal of torque just above idle and little under 100 horsepower at full blast. Energy (11 kWh) is supplied by three lithium ion battery packs and everything is housed in a KTM RC8 chassis, a good choice considering that the TTX02 is a 130 mph supersport motorcycle.

At least that is what we consider it to be (according to the official claims, of course), but Hussain refers to the TTX02 as being a "laptop on wheels." That is mainly because each machine features a dash-mounted computer that runs on Linux, comes with its own dedicated IP address, on-board web server and connectivity to wireless networks, just to start your interest. For more information watch the two videos of the bike’s launch that we attached after the break or go to mavizen.com.

BMW R 1200 GS / Adventure

BMW R 1200 GS / Adventure

BMW plans on keeping their 2010 R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure on the class favorites position by bringing in a DOHC engine that is capable of 110hp and 88lb-ft of torque, just like on the R 1200 RT model. Now capable to rev 500rpm more than the previous generation power unit, the flat-twin is claimed to offer plenty more acceleration and pulling power in a refined manner. This should raise the stakes and have BMW say “mission accomplished,” but not before the new Ducati Multistrada 1200 and the future Yamaha Super Tenere make their moves.

Yamaha YZ250F

Yamaha YZ250F

Yamaha may not raise the stakes in the 250cc motocross/supercross class with their 2010 YZ250F model, but the bike does come with a new, more compact "Bilateral Beam" frame and KYB suspension that allow the rider to control it easier. Also, the engine now features modified valves, is being fed through an upgraded carburetor and breaths through a revised exhaust with “D” shaped exhaust port. All the modifications translate in more low-to-mid rpm power, which is precisely what the rider needs during motocross races. We have put together an article based on Yamaha’s press release, so hit the jump to read it.

2010 Rieju RS3 125 ahead of Milan

Spanish motorcycle manufacturer Rieju plans to officially unveil their new RS3 sports 125cc motorcycle at the Milan show on November 9th. In keeping with the company’s tradition, the RS3 will be powered by a Minarelli engine, which is expected to be the same 125cc four-stroke single cylinder one behind the current selling model, but which will be retuned with the use of a new exhaust system. As this picture reveals, the new European supersport motorcycle will stay true to its reputation on the old continent with the use of inverted forks replacing the conventional items found on the previous generation model. Still, we’re waiting for the official specifications.

What’s currently certain is the fact that the 2010 Rieju RS3 125 looks like a small brother of the Honda CBR600RR, despite the fact that it is supposed to compete with the Japanese company’s CBR125RR model, which is also very popular in Europe (I’ve even seen Repsol ones, so teenagers back there are quite exquisite). The design belongs to Rieju and UK-based Xenophya Design.

Impossible to miss in Yamaha’s 2010 dual-sport lineup is the TW200, an easy to spot and recognize motorcycle due to its beefy tires. This bike carries on without change, showing that Yamaha can be as constant as it is fun. Being around for decades, the Yamaha TW200 has surely got the recipe right from the very beginnings, and this is just a happy career that we’re looking at.

Yamaha XT250

Yamaha keeps on writing history with the XT250 as the bike carries on to 2010 with no significant changes. Even tough situated in the dual sport arena, the XT250 stands as many people’s idea of a trail bike and that says much about its off-road capabilities. A headlight and the mirrors make it street legal. Let’s see what more.

Brad Pitt crashes his custom motorcycle on the streets of Beverly Hills [w/video]

Last Saturday, Brad Pitt, who was riding one of his custom motorcycles on the streets of Beverly Hills, was implicated in a minor crash with a car. The Hollywood star got through it with only a few scratches and although the bike was towed from the scene, it looked like it could have been ridden to the shop without problems.

Of course, paparazzi were on duty and there have even been speculations about a paparazzo hitting Pitt from behind and causing him to crash, but the most plausible scenario is that Brad was riding between a parked car and a car stopped at a red light when he clipped the parked car with the handlebar and crashed at slow speed.

2010 Moto Morini Grand Motard - first pics

2010 Moto Morini Grand Motard - first pics

Moto Morini has long been preparing the supermoto version of the Granpasso and these first pics that we came across confirm the all-new bike’s upcoming official unveiling at the EICMA show. The pictures belong to Italian news site Motociclismo, which’s tester took the unfinished version of the Grand Motard for a spin.

Although we’ll have to say that this looks ready for the Italian manufacturer’s EICMA stand, they’re still talking code names such as “V12M01″ for the new machine that will be powered by an upgraded version of the Granpasso water-cooled 1187cc 87° V-twin motor. This will develop 127hp, 9 ponies more than on the adventure bike.

MM may have aimed towards a sporty style and character for their new motorcycle, but they also retained the best of the Granpasso, which is the 7-gallon fuel tank. This means more supermoto fun with fewer stops for gas. Expect us to bring more information and the official shots as they arrive.

Yamaha WR250R

Get the Flash Player to see the videos.
Not quite your everyday enduro motorcycle and no a dirt bike either, the WR250R is Yamaha’s most versatile two-wheeled machine, one that can take you off-road and on pavement with great ease thanks to a highly evolved and easily adaptive chassis and a potent quarter-liter engine. As you probably already infer, the best thing about it is that it can actually go on public roads, so it qualifies as a commuter too.

According to the Spanish website, Solomoto, Honda might launch a CBR250RR model for the European market in approximately a year from now. Obviously the bike would address to less experienced, but sport oriented riders and it will supposedly be built around an aluminum frame, while power should come from an upgraded version of the 250cc V-twin engine currently powering the VTR250. More information as we have it.
