Aprilia Tuono V4 R

Next to the RS4, Aprilia also brought the Tuono V4 R supersports bike to the EICMA Show. The new bike features a new exhaust system with bypass valve, which is two kilos lighter than the system used on the RSV4 R and is powered by a V4 65° engine framed by the brushed aluminum elements.

One special feature of the new Tuono V4 R is the APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) joystick, the second generation electronic dynamics control package developed by Aprilia to get as close as possible to the physical limits of riding. APRC is based on an automotive inertia sensor platform, with two gyrometers and two accelerometers allowing the ECU to determine the dynamic state of the motorcycle and control engine torque accordingly to help the rider exploit the full performance potential of the bike in all conditions.

The APRC package includes ATC traction control (Aprilia Traction Control), with eight selectable levels, which controls sliding when accelerating out of a curve in relation to bank angle and throttle aperture, AWC (Aprilia Wheelie Control), which helps the rider control extreme wheelying by gradually bringing the front wheel back to the ground, and AQS (Aprilia Quick Shift), which allows instantaneous upshifts without closing the throttle or using the clutch. Completing the suite of four functions is the most exhilarating of all: ALC (Aprilia Launch Control).

Aprilia RS4

Aprilia has unveiled a completely revised RS4 at the EICMA Show in Italy. It will be offered in two versions: Aprilia RS4 50 and Aprilia RS4 125. The first version, the RS4 50, is powered by a single cylinder, liquid cooled 50 cc 2-stroke engine while the second version, the RS4 125, is powered by a single cylinder liquid cooled 125 cc 4-stroke with electronic injection, 4 valves, and double overhead camshafts (DOHC).

The RS4 features a unique look at the front end with the headlights suspended over the gaping air intakes. It also uses the same spectacular tapered tail fairing as found on the 1000 cc supersports model. These models set new standards in terms of style and technical content for the superbike segment.

The superbike comes with a multifunctional analogue/digital instrument panel with LCD display and 6-spoke design wheels. On Aprilia RS4, one additional detail underscores the level of sophistication of the bike: the exhaust, which is unmistakably inspired by competition machines, is completely integrated within the lower part of the fairing. A solution that is not just visually effective, but which also contributes significantly to the dynamics of the bike by helping to centralise masses.

Husqvarna Mille 3 Concept

At the recent EICMA Show in Milan, Italy Husqvarna brought the Mille 3, a "concept study that demonstrates Husqvarna’s ability to design with highly diverse technical solutions, creating a dynamic and seductive contrast."

"It is an alloy of emotion, curiosity and anti-conformism, molded in an original form. A bike that is complete, but stripped down, elegant but slightly threatening. An explosive mix that appeals to all the senses and sets a new benchmark for future Husqvarna bikes."

The Mille 3 Concept is powered by a fuel-injected 933cc V-3 engine with the cylinders and heads taken from the Husky’s off-road bikes.

"The lines are flowing, the breaks decisive, the shape is streamlined. The vaguely retro rear blends effortlessly into the sculpted side panels. The overall look reinterprets and evolves the stylistic features and architecture typical of Husqvarna design. All in all, it is a winning combination of style and technology that amply expresses the project philosophy—whatever is not functional is superfluous and discarded."

KTM 990 Adventure Dakar

KTM is set to unveil at this year’s EICMA Show a new motorcycle that will confirm the German maker’s domination at "The Dakar rally". Called 990 Adventure Dakar the new motorcycle is not however a replacement for the current KTM 450 Rally and will not be raced in Argentina and Chile, but it does show that KTM is indeed a maker that can do amazing things.

The 990 Adventure Dakar will feature a blue and orange paint, Dakar graphics, standard engine protection bars and much more. We do not have any details on the bike’s specifications yet, but considering the new Dakar rally regulation require a 450cc engine, expect nothing else from KTM.

Stay with us, we’ll have full details for you next week when EICMA Show begins. KTM announced a few other goodies for this year show, including the 450 Rally that will indeed compete in both Argentina and Chile rally.

Authentic, “cigarette blue” plastic parts with the Bedouine graphics of KTM’s factory racers cover the orange frame. A high-quality suedelook seat cover looks good and prevents slippage even on extreme tracks. At the same time, the “Dakar” combines popular features of both the other models – while the Adventure donates the suspension with 210 mm of travel as well as the sensitive Bosch ABS, the engine is that of the Adventure R with 115 bhp.

KTM RC8 R Track

Next to the RC8 R superbike, KTM also brought to EICMA Show in Italy a Track version for it. The motorcycle is compatible with the FIM Superstock homologation and can therefore be used in official championships.

The "Track" directly developed and produced by the RC8 Motorsport Department is the perfect two cylinder Superbike for hobby riders - like those competing in various championships.

The motorcycle is powered by the same twin-cylinder engine that delivers an impressive 175 bhp and 127 Nm of torque. The TRack version gets the same improved gear shift linkage, new LED daytime running lights, but also a more track oriented look.

KTM now offers a street bike product that is a pure bred sports-oriented racing machine. More and more riders of super sporty bikes are now showing a preference for the race track in the form of either training sessions or races.

Moto Guzzi Norge GT 8V

The Italians from Motto Guzzi came to EICMA Show with the 2011 Norge GT 8V. The 2011 model gets revamped electronic controls, timing and cooling systems, new integrated ignition and injection ECU for claimed better throttle response and more midrange. It will also get a new, distinctly modern shapes in the bodywork, fairing and bags

The 2011 Norge GT 8V is powered by a 1151 cc 90° V-Twin, four-stroke, air cooled engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. The new 8-valve engine is complimented by a reworked stainless steel 2-int-1 exhaust system for better breathing, helping to push the horsepower rating to 102 HP at 5500 rpm.

With a weight of 566.6 lbs, the Norge’s saddle is 31.89 inches in height and has been outfitted with a wider, more padded seat. The handlebar position has been lowered and retracted slightly while its instrument panel has been moved to make it easier for riders to read.

Triumph Daytona 675R

Triumph brought at EICMA Show the 2011 Daytona 675 R. Starting with a standard Dayton 675, Triumph engineers worked in conjunction with Swedish suspension specialists Ohlins to create a machine that would really be appreciated on the circuit by expert riders.

Ohlins contributed its revolutionary 43 mm NIX30 forks usually only found on the racetrack and ultra-exotic Italian machines ans its MotoGT developed TTX36 rear suspension unit, while radially-mounted monoblock calipers and radial master cylinder from Italian specialist Brembo were specified to ensure Dayton 675R also has class-leading stopping power.

The Daytona 675R also gets: a standard lift quickshifter and a host of carbon fiber bodywork, including hugger, silencer heat shield ad front mudguard.

Mechanically the Daytona 675R is identical to the standard Daytona 675, delivering 125 HP at 12,600 rpm with a class-leading 72 NM of torque. The sports bike also get sporty new graphics that include a unique Triumph tank script and a special color scheme: Crystal White bodywork is contrasted with a race style black belly pan and distinctive red subframe.

Honda V4 Crosstourer Concept

The second concept Honda Motorcycles brought to EICMA Show is the V4 Crosstourer. The concept combines the phenomenal V4 engine and the revolutionary Dual Clutch Transimission and will deliver all the fun and excitement of a road sports bike; but with the comfortable upright riding position and manoeuvrability of an adventure machine.

The VFR1200F was the first model to utilize the new iconic V4 engine that signified the beginning of the new era in Honda’s engine line-up. The V4 Crosstourer Concept will utilise the same engine as the Road Sport category VFR to bring the benefits of this world-beating engine to a new type of customer. This will be the first time an Adventure Tourer bike has been fitted with a compact and powerful four cylinder V-engine unit.

The new bike is the second Honda to be fitted with this innovative transmission system after the VFR1200F and it is the first time this award-winning technology has been seen in this category.

Triumph Tiger 800 and 800XC

Triuph has unveiled the first details on the 2011 Tiger 800, offered in both road and off-rod versions, last one called XC. The last one will be distinguished by specia tires, 21-inch front wheel and extended front mudguard. The standard version will be offered with 19-inch front wheel and non-tubed tires.

For 2011 Triumph will be powered by a stroked out version of the Triumph Daytona 675. The 800 cc engine will deliver a few lees horse power than in the Dayton model (where it delivers 124bhp and 53lb/ft). SO, with a total weight of 440lbs and a power of aprox. 110 HP, the Triumph 800 will be lighter and a little more powerful than the BMW F800GS.

The 2011 800 will also be offered with a steel tube frame, a beefier bash guard and an Arrow exhaust.

No words yet on how much the motorcycle will cost or when it will go on sale.

Updated 11/05/2010: The new Trimph Tiger 800 and 800XC made their world debut in Italy at the EICMA Show. The Tiger 800 offers outstanding accessibility and maneuverability with cast alloy wheels and, thanks to the adjustable seat that’s on both models, a seat height as low as 31.9 inches to make it an adventure bike for the masses. The taller Tiger 800XC, meanwhile, delivers true off-road capability thanks to its longer-travel suspension and 21” spoke front wheel. With its higher riding position, the Tiger 800XC provides a commanding view of the road ahead and absorbs even the worst road conditions.

KTM 125 Duke

For 2011, KTM is offering a road-legal 125 for the first time – the 125 Duke. The new model will go on sale in the spring 2011, and while KTM has yet to announce an official price, they did promise that it would be affordable. They also predicted that this may just be your "first fast love."

Like no other brand, KTM represents a highly enjoyable riding experience, generated by concepts that always have put a strong focus on the dynamism of each model: light weight by omitting all non-essential parts; precision, achieved by modern designs and the use of only the best quality components; power thanks to strong, lightweight sports engines second to none; a unique style resulting from bold looks and an unmistakable design philosophy.

Honda CB1000R

Children, please avert your eyes. Honda has unveiled (pun intended) their new CB1000R, a high-performance and versatile "naked bike," at the EICMA Show. This sassy lady takes its inspiration from the seminal four-cylinder classic CB750K0 introduced by Honda in 1969 and will go on sale in the spring of 2011 with only one exterior paint option available: Pearl Black.

The new CB1000R is powered by a fuel-injected four-cylinder 998cc powerplant tuned for loads of right-now power. Sophisticated Gravity Die-Cast technology creates a mono-backbone aluminum frame that is strong yet features thin-wall construction for light weight. The distinctive single-sided aluminum swingarm features a single rear shock with spring preload and rebound-damping adjustability for excellent rear suspension action.

And there’s a fully adjustable 43mm inverted fork and radial-mounted dual 310mm disc brakes up front. Perhaps best of all, the roomy seating position delivers excellent rider comfort and tremendous versatility for long-distance travel and two-up riding.

KTM RC8 R

KTM brought the 2011 RC8 R superbike to EICMA Show, and we are sure glad they did. This is the company’s most powerful, smooth, and sophisticated model. For the model year 2011, KTM focuses on a thorough development of all aspects of the RC8 R.

The 2011 RC8 R is powered by a twin-cylinder engine that delivers an impressive 175 bhp and 127 Nm of torque. And with a total weight of only 185 kilos, the bike is ready to race. Thanks to the finely honed injection system, the rider is in full control of the enormous power at all times.

Combined with a new eccentric bracket in the shock linkage, the RC8 R can now be precisely dialed in within a significantly wider range of settings. For 2011, the RC8 R gets improved gear shift linkage, new LED daytime running lights, and an elaborate, high gloss paint job. The latest Dunlop SportSmart tires make for the icing on the cake.

Honda New Mid Concept

Honda Motorcycle has brought the New Mid Concept to the EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. This concept combines innovative thinking and new technology to create a multi discipline machine.

The Honda New Mid Concept combines the latest engine technology with the advanced Dual Clutch Transmission technology which, up to now, has been exclusively offered on the VFR1200F. It also gets newly designed 17 inch wheels with pro link rear suspension and front fairing air vents coupled with the larger wheels that deliver greater stability when riding at higher speeds.

Taking the spirit of a sports motorcycle and the comfort of a scooter into a totally new format, the New Mid Concept will offer the energetic riding sensation of a motorcycle but with the ease and convenience of a scooter. This sector shattering combination of features creates a bike that is both visually dynamic and enjoyable to ride.

BMW R 1200 R and R 1200 R Classic

The second model to be displayed by BMW Motorrad at EICMA Show is R1200 R, in both standard and Classic versions. Both combine a modern sporty and accentuated classical motorcycle design, once again with considerably greater quality and driving dynamics for even more riding fun.

The new R 1200 R is powered by a 1170 cc engine that delivers 110 HP at 7750 rpm and a peak torque of 119 NM at 6000 rpm. The new bike will be offered in three exterior colors: mat metallic smoky gray, metallic light gray, or metallic red apple.

Both the R 1200 R and the R 1200 R Classic can be fitted optionally with electronic suspension adjustment ESA. This serves to vary the spring base and the suspension’s pressure and rebound stages at the rear wheel, and the suspension’s rebound stage at the front wheel – a system that has established itself as the solution for optimized road handling and comfort.

BMW Concept C

BMW has revealed the new Concept C today at the EICMA Show in Milan. The Concept C is BMW’s vision of the big scooter with the C in the name standing for "commuter." We’re all getting a little crowded nowadays with the number of people going to and from their homes, jobs, etc., and this concept is BMW’s response to that increasing traffic situation. They say the Concept C represents "the prospect of an innovative, sporty big scooter for the future premium segment."

The new Concept C presents the so-called “split face”, a visual tripartite of dynamic response extending from the front silhouette to the front wheel cover and beyond. In the style of highly sporty BMW Motorrad models, such as the S 1000 RR, Concept C also features a twin-tipped front spoiler.

Also, the Concept C features a highly complex monolever mechanism with hollowed-out shaft connected to a suspension strut visible from the outside. In this study, front-wheel control takes the form of an upside down fork. The stable twin disc brake at the front features two radial brake calipers that also underscore the dynamic sportiness of Concept C. In addition, the single disc brake at the rear and the BMW Motorrad ABS provide the maximum possible safety during braking maneuvers.

BMW G650 GS

BMW Motorrad has just revealed the new G 650 GS, a new single-cylinder enduro that adds a cheeky, light, and adventurous figure. The G650 GS is powered by a 652 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with a double overhead camshafts engine that develops 48 HP at 6500 rpm and 60 Nm at 5000 rpm. BMW is also offering a detuned version that develops only 34 HP at 6500 rpm and 47 Nm at 4500 rpm.

The body of the new G 650 GS was completely redesigned. The front section, in particular, makes the single-cylinder enduro light, sporty, and dynamic. The asymmetrical headlamp and the self steering front wheel cover give the G 650 GS its look of absolute independence.

A clear design of lines, the targeted use of colored areas and all black plastic parts uphold the visual impression of a robust enduro outfit. The overall impression of sportiness is boosted further by the engine, exhaust covers, frame, swinging arm, and slide tubes, which are all black, contrasting with the plain colors of aura white and orange-red as well as the matching two-tone seats.

Honda CBR250R

Honda Motorcycle has unveiled today the new 2011 CBR250R sport bike. It is a sporty, fun, lightweight and affordable motorcycle aimed for those entering the sport of motorcycling. "The CBR250R is specifically aimed at new riders, yet it’s packed full of high-tech features and offers great performance, all in a lightweight, affordable package. This new model expands another segment of the market for Honda buyers."

The new CBR250R is powered by an extremely efficient 249cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine that features a sophisticated four-valve DOHC cylinder head, engine counter balancer, and fuel injection—this dependable and lightweight machine delivers nimble handling, a broad spread of easily accessible power and low operating costs all in one. The motorcycle weights only 359 lbs.

It will be offered in standard and ABS version and in Metallic Black and Red/Silver exterior colors. Sales will begin in the spring of 2011.

Honda Shows Off The New VFR Adventure Concept

Milan, Italy may be known for its high-end clothing shops and expensive super cars, but Honda is planning something completely new for the city. The Japanese manufacturer is planning on unveiling eight new bikes, and we have our first hunch on at least one of those machines.

Here we have the VFR Adventure Concept, a 1200cc monster designed for people who like speed and long rides on the interstate highways. The new Honda is similar to the Ducati Multistrada.

It seems that the new VFR will get a higher stance over the current model with more ground clearance. Although, there isn’t much besides that, as Honda has been fairly sneaky with this new machine. We have to wonder if we will see it in the United States, but sports bike fans will just have to wait and see.

The new VFR should be going on sale around 2012 or later.

Ducati Diavel

After months of speculation and spy photography the long wait is almost over, the Diavel will make its first public appearance at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan 2-7 November.

Officially announcing the new model’s name ahead of the official presentation, the famous Italian manufacturer is about to turn another dream into reality, using the local Bolognese dialect word for “devil” in naming their new model Diavel – pronounced Dee-ah-vel.

The idea for the name was born early in the development process of the bike, when the prototype was assembled and wheeled out in front of a group of Ducati engineers and technicians for the first time. One person looking from the rear of the bike saw its silhouette and exclaimed in Bolognese dialect: “Ignurnt comm’ al diavel!” Meaning: “Evil, like the devil!”

BMW K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL

BMW has unveiled today the new K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL. motorcycles that come with a supreme, impressive and equally distinctive appearance, creating a desire to travel at first sight.

The two models are powered by a new 6-cylinder in-line engine that develops a total of 160 HP and a maximum torque of 175 NM. The rider of the K 1600 models has three different engine characteristics directly available at the press of a button at the right-hand end of the handlebars so as to be able to adapt to different uses such as touring on the road, riding on wet surfaces and sporty, dynamic motorcycling - the modes "Rain", "Road" and "Dynamic".

The K 1600 GT is has a very extensive range of standard features ex works consisting of xenon headlamps, heated grips and seat, cruise control and on-board computer. In the K 1600 GT, the body colours of Light Grey metallic and Vermilion Red metallic create a fascinating contrast with the frame and wheels in Ostra Grey and the engine in Platinum metallic matte.

Rossi May Be Out For MotoGP's Last Two Races

Fans of popular MotoGP racer Valentino Rossi might not get to see him in action at the last two rounds of the 2010 MotoGP season. Apparently, Rossi has to undergo surgery in order to treat a shoulder injury he received in an accident last April 15th while doing motocross training in Pesaro Italy. The injury came just four days after he won the the first race of the season in Qatar. Rossi still managed to race for the second round in Jerez, Spain, placing third overall. Teammate Jorge Lorenzo won first place in that round.

Unfortunately for Rossi, this accident wasn’t the only one that would end up affecting him during this racing season. Rossi ended up being involved in another accident just two months after the first one when he was practicing in Mugello for the Italian Grand Prix. "Our presence at the show is proof of our commitment to customers in Germany and northern Europe, and underlines our aim to expand in Germany, which is the second most important market in Europe for Ducati. For this reason we decided to preview here some of the new products scheduled for 2011, such as the new additions to the Superbike family with the 848EVO and 1198 SP, and new liveries for the Monster and Streetfighter models.”

Casey Stoner Wins It For Ducati At Aragon

Ducati is definitely back in the competition, winning the Spanish leg of the 2010 MotoGP season. And they did it with an additional bonus too, bagging third place in the race. The race was held at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Aragon, Spain on September 19th.

Australian rider Casey Stoner was the hero of the hour for the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, beating hometown hero Dani Pedrosa to the checkered flag. Pedrosa came in a full five seconds behind Stoner in the finish. Completing the victory for Ducati is American Nicky Hayden, who came in third.

With the win, Stoner cut down Ducati’s losing streak in the current MotoGP season. Prior to his win, Ducati was able to get a second place finish at the United States Grand Prix held at Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. The second place finish also came courtesy of Stoner. However, Ducati still remains third in the manufacturer’s standings with 105 points.

Ducati Heading Out Of The Superbike Championships

Fans will probably be missing one of the most popular teams in the World Superbike Championships for 2011. This came about as Ducati announced last August 27th that they would not be fielding a factory team for next season’s races.

According to the statement released by Ducati, the reason they are pulling out of the superbike championships is because they want to focus more on technology development for their products. They also added that, in order to further develop the latest iteration of Ducati’s bikes, they will have to pull out the resources used to manage the factory team and divert them to the company’s research and development department.

In the statement, Ducati President Gabriele Del Torchio also thanked riders Noriyuki Haga and Michel Fabrizio for their participation in the team. Both Haga and Fabrizio had been with the team for almost two years.

However, according to some Superbike observers, there are still several other reasons for the Italian motorcycle maker’s pullout from the competition.

As the world’s fourth largest motorcycle manufacturer, Aprilia has been noted for creating first-class bikes that captivate any rider’s heart. And every year they have added unique motorcycle models to their huge collection.

In 2007, the company launched the Aprilia Shiver 750. This model, unfortunately, didn’t get the market’s attention successfully due to the Shiver’s not-so-good exterior reported by its importers. However in 2010, the Aprilia Shiver 750 seems to be taking a corner with some major improvements to the bike’s exterior. Many didn’t expect this, but the Shiver 750 has made it’s appearance more head-turning, and its specs more interesting. Aprilia has made changes to the motorcycle’s lower seats, brakes, sitting positions, wheels, and abs in the hopes of selling more units this year. And even though the Shiver has been given a new face and some major revisions, this 2-wheeled vehicle is still easy to ride.

MotoGP Pays Tribute To Shoya Tomizawa

September 5th of this year was a sad day for MotoGP fans all over the world. On this date, Technomag-CIP rider Shoya Tomizawa died after crashing into a corner in the Misano World Circuit in Italy. Tomizawa was only 19 at the time of the accident.

The young rider was competing in the inaugural San Marino Grand Prix race for the newly created Moto2 class. Tomizawa was approaching the Curvone corner on lap 12 when he lost control of his bike and was thrown onto the track. He was then hit by the the bikes of riders Scott Redding and Alex de Angelis, who were right behind him when the accident happened. Tomizawa was immediately rushed to the circuit’s medical center then to a hospital in nearby Rccione where he died due to severe cranial, thoracic, and abdominal trauma.

Last Sunday, two weeks after Tomizawa’s death, the MotoGP Paddock paid him a tribute in a special ceremony held at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain. The Technomag-CIP team rolled his bike onto the starting grid and a minute of silence followed, in his honor. Riders attending the tribute also placed the #48 (Tomizawa’s number) onto their uniforms, helmets, and bikes as a sign of respect. Tomizawa was laid to rest in his hometown of Asahi, Chiba in Japan on Sept. 15.

MotoGP also announced that the number 48 will be retired from the Moto2 races as one of the tributes to him. Furthermore, Tomizawa will be posthumously awarded the Michel Metraux trophy, given the best rider in the category. The award was given after Tomizawa’s fellow riders unanimously voted for him upon the suggestion of current Moto2 leader Tom Elias. His family will receive the trophy in the next Grand Prix in Japan this November.

Yamaha Unveils Its Lineup For 2011

Colin Edwards Sticks With Yamaha

Yamaha fans everywhere can rejoice as Colin Edwards will be joining the team again for the 2011 MotoGP season. Edwards has confirmed that he has resigned for a new one year contract with his team Monster Yamaha Tech 3. The new contract is an extension of his current contract with the team.

The 36-year-old Edwards made the announcement after completing his 100th race at the Gran Premio A-Style de Aragon in Spain last Sunday. He joined the Yamaha team in 2008 and has since become one of the most prominent riders of the team. He had an outstanding stint with Yamaha last year, winning the top non factory rider award. Edwards started in the MotoGP circuit in 2003, riding for Aprilia.

Edwards is currently number 11 in the world rankings, with his best start at seventh position at Laguna Seca, Brno, and Misano. And despite having a disappointing 12th place finish in last Sunday’s race, he was still able to maintain his current position.

Philippaerts injured; Paulin selected for Motocross of Nations

David Philippaerts of Yamaha Monster Energy Motocross Team will be unable to race for the incoming 64th Motocross of Nations due to an injury he sustained while showing off raging speed during the 2nd Moto race. Apparently, Philippaerts twisted his right knee and was unable to complete the race securing a third position in the FIM MX1-GP World Championship on the factory YZ450FM. The rider immediately went back to his home in Milan for a medical check-up that revealed that, although it was not serious enough to need surgery, his knee would require adequate rest for a period of twenty days before the 2008 world champion could begin light cycling routines.

On the other hand, luck comes to Gautier Paulin as Team Yamaha chose him to represent France in the MX1 category with a YZ450FM. "While I am sorry for Christophe this is an exciting news for me and I am proud to represent France as part of a strong team. There is not much time to prepare but we are working hard now to get ready on the bike and be as fast as possible for Thunder Valley”, Paulin said.

Eugene Laverty signs up with Yamaha WSS team

Team Yamaha Sterilgarda seems to be geared up and well-prepared for the upcoming 2011 World Sportbike with the finalization of their line of superb riders competing for the much-awaited match. Along with MotoGP rider Marco Melandri fighting for the title, Yamaha has also enlisted World Supersport rider, Eugene Laverty, to ride for the team. For the 2011 season, the 24-year-old Irish rider, who was last year’s WSS runner-up, will ride Yamaha Sterilgarda’s YZF-R1 Superbike.

In 2009, Eugene Laverty was racing for Parkalgar Honda when he trailed Yamaha Sterilgarda rider, Cal Crutchlow, to finish in second place. Currently, Laverty trails Hannspree Ten Kate Honda’s Kenan Sofuoglu by 12 points in the 2010 World Supersport Championship. He currently holds seven wins this year in 11 races.

This isn’t Eugene Laverty’s first ride with Yamaha. The young rider was famous for greatly showing off at the 250cc MotoGP Championship while enjoying two wild card World Supersport rides in 2008 due to an injury sustained by Fabien Foret. Laverty was noted to be very impressive during those times by finishing third in his second outing at Vallelunga.

Kawasaki Z750R

A hit all over Europe and across the UK, the Z750 will be joined in the Kawasaki Street-fighter stable for 2011 by the new Z750R - set to get its UK public debut at the Carole Nash Motorcycle Live event at the NEC in November.

Entering the exciting “R” arena, the latest super naked from Kawasaki adds a new level of handling and braking sophistication to the class and is sure to win favour with the growing customer base for versatile, mid-weight machines that handle and stop as well as they look.

With new 41mm highly adjustable front forks, matched by a stunning aluminium swinging arm and remote reservoir piggy-back rear shock, the handling package represented by the new Z750R will reward riders looking for true Supersport handling from a naked motorcycle.

The ante has also been upped in the braking department with beefy radial mounted front callipers gripping race inspired petal discs matched to an equally performance oriented radial mount brake reservoir.

Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200

There have been rumors stating that since the unsuccessful launch of Aprilia’s naked bike, the Shiver, the company just wasn’t capable of releasing new motorcycles that would boom in the market. But now, after four years of silence, Aprilia is introducing a new Dorsoduro Motorbike. The 2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 is said to be stronger than the previous Dorsoduro released years ago. This fascinating new motorbike can now be added to the Italian manufacturer’s collection when it is introduced at the EICMA show in Milan this year. It will be joining the previous Dorsoduro 750 and the Dorsoduro Factory 750 models.

The first ever official image of the Dorsoduro 1200 was recently released, and although it did not give us a good enough grasp of the features the bike will have, it did provide us with a little information. In the photos you can see that the bike’s ABS system was completely redesigned and the description attached to the image noted that the Dorsoduro will have a 1200cc 90-degree V-Twin engine. The bike’s new engine will perform at a higher compression to allow for increased displacement, so expect some robust power coming from the ride-by-wire platform. Aprilia claims that the new motorbike will have a power output of 130 hp at 8700 rpm and 84.8 ft-lb. of torque at 7200 rpm. This new engine feature is considered to be a strong point in leading over the other top bikes in the market today.
