Kawasaki ZX-10R by Hoely

Kawasaki ZX-10R by Hoely

It seems that Marco Melandri itself advised German builder Hoely to develop this MotoGP kit for the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R as the racing bike’s rider believes the original bike can easily be turned into a MotoGP replica for the road by customers who had enough of the standard color schemes and graphics.

We have to admit that the Italian MotoGP rider thought well and the Germans were clever in following his ideas because bikes are pretty much like cars: you buy them new, drive/ride them for a couple of months and already start thinking at ways to make them better. And what better way to improve a stock Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R than making it look like its racing sibling?

Kawasaki Z 750 B by WrenchMonkees

The WrenchMonkees team gave a unique touch to this late 1970s Kawasaki Z 750 B not just by rebuilding the engine and adding their very own megatron mufflers, but by turning classic into custom using what we begin to consider the WM routine. This implies a new rearframe and fender which help at giving each of their bikes a unique look, while the aluminum battery box helps at meeting the customer’s requirements.

Good looks are part of just a point met on the Copenhagen-based builder’s check list. Because comfort is another one, this bike gets WM seat, footpegs and also handlebar and grips. The riding position looks quite natural and the bike is overall exclusive in its simplicity. You won’t find any wires hanging on for dear life on their way to the WM headlight and taillight and we have to appreciate that, just as we cannot complain about the WM heat resistant custom paint. This, together with the 19-inch cast alloy wheels, makes a Kawasaki Z750 B look like something that Brad Pitt would ride.

Get the Flash Player to see the videos.
In Bucharest, Romania bikers know how to have fun and get their motorcycles cleaned up in the same time. The trick is to organize a sexy bike wash right on the side of the road, then lay back and enjoy the sight. This Biker’s Club brought in 6 very beautiful girls, who washed no less than 10 motorcycles, a few ATVs and even a car in a single day, charging an average $130 per vehicle. Sounds like a fair deal on both sides if you consider the striptease shows that follow after a hard day of work.

Ducati has revealed the first pictures of their 2010 Hypermotard 796 together with the most important features of what is definitely a smaller and much more versatile twin-cylinder Italian motorcycle with sportbike credentials and very aggressive looks.

The first and most important thing about it is the entirely new Ducati 796 Desmodue L-Twin engine with a bore and stroke of 88mm x 66mm, which gives it the ability to rev high and develop 81hp (59.6kW) of power and 55.7lb-ft (7.7kgm) of torque very smoothly. Although designed with performance in mind, the new engine is claimed to be very reliable and meet Euro 3 regulations. Also, given the bike’s 368 lbs (167 kg) dry weight, the new powerplant returns 49mpg, which is good considering the thrill.

The 2010 Honda Gold Wing comes more like a disappointment rather than the interesting new entry that the public had been expecting simply because the world’s ultimate touring motorcycle features no new technical innovation or design change that is characteristic to the class it proudly dominates and to it only. While remaining as reliable, comfortable and powerful as the previous generation model, the 2010 model year is a bit safer and the new color schemes still manage to make the bike stand out despite its old-fashioned look.

Saxon Whip

Choppers were born in America for American roads, but despite this fact, the continuously growing demand for such beasts in Europe determines Saxon, a US-based custom bike manufacturer to establish a European division – Saxon Motorcycles Europe – and start developing new models precisely for this new market.

The Saxon Whip is the company’s fourth such model, a hard tail chopper able to make even an accountant look like he’s most likely slapping people for fun. The fact is that the Whip, which stands out mainly thanks to its rigid frame and long fork, addresses to those riders who want the look and feel of a mean chopper, but also the relief of knowing that their ride was built using modern technology.

This precise model was recently introduced at the Arneitz Custom Show during the European Bike Week and the crowd there was delighted about it. The official press release also informs us about the opening of a new dealership in Spain. This company’s continuous evolution is due to excellent built quality and low prices on all their models. Not plausible concept bike cries for KTM notoriety

Not plausible concept bike cries for KTM notoriety

Remember our post from yesterday about the “KTM Concept Motorbike”? Well, we’ve come across yet another concept bike that starts pretty much from the same requirements and ends up fairly similar to what British designer Matt Williams created if you look at the big picture here. Forget about KTM’s flawless bodywork, sharp nose and tail, this thing looks like the cruiser of the future and everything is there for you to see, especially the V-Twin engine and the front swingarm.

The cruiser-like riding position is also there and given the low center of gravity and powerful engine, we reckon the ride should be essentially similar if these kinds of concepts ever find their way to the production line. Still, we like them.

There’s also the 2010 CBR600RR C-ABS model, so at least they had it all figured out before starting to splash the new paint on this supersport motorcycle.

Global specialist in energy management Schneider Electric has contracted Orange County Choppers to build their first hybrid motorcycle about which Paul Teutul , Sr. says it will be "capable of traveling farther, without refueling or recharging, than any other OCC bike in history." Obviously, you’re gonna see the whole story and the actual bike during a future American Chopper episode scheduled for next year, unless you’re a selected Schneider Electric contractor partner, meaning that you’ll see the hybrid chopper later this year and even get the change to win one of the eight such bikes that OCC and Schneider Electric give away.

The words that we used for the title belong to Jorge Lorenzo and are probably the most touching from this entirely excellent video, which is actually made by combining two different interviews taken to Jorge Lorenzo and his father during two different periods of the MotoGP rider’s life. Amazing KTM Concept Motorbike

Amazing KTM Concept Motorbike

If concept bikes are supposed to be windows of the future, this thing here is a veritable glass wall. Created by British designer Matt Williams, the “KTM Motorbike” not only offers a great view over design brilliancy, but also has the innovation factor to back it up. Featuring a hub-center steering system which eliminates dive under braking, this KTM concept should handle like a superbike, while the steering angle is much more generous than on classic motorcycles.

Although it is supposed to be built around a small frame and powered by a KTM V-Twin engine, we simply cannot get over the aggressive looks of this concept and the cruiser-like riding position that it offers. If we’re right, if made, this motorcycle will offer the best of both worlds: superbike performance and cruiser comfort. Ouch, that will surely change some things in the motorcycle industry.

Concept vehicle: Jameson Klug’s "The City"

Jameson Klug’s The City

The City is a concept vehicle designed by Jameson Klug to be affordable, lightweight, and simple. The idea came by joining a motorcycle with a car shell and, obviously, this brings benefits characteristic to both these types of vehicles: the versatility, low fuel consumption and thrill of riding a motorcycle when this is separated from the shell and the ability to carry two persons and cargo when attached to it.

Jameson Klug says: “My concept is based around the motorcycle architecture, and allows the car shell to attach when needed, to provide for extra cargo capacity, protection from the weather, or to carry two additional passengers. The driver still sits on the motorcycle even as he attaches it to the car, and utilizes its controls to save complexity.”

The entire bodywork is made of roto-molded high strength plastics, with a biodegradable honeycomb soy core, while the star rotor engine powering this entire assembly is capable of recycling heat that would normally be wasted.

Upcoming MV Agusta F3 spied in Italy

Upcoming MV Agusta F3 spied in Italy

The first rumors regarding the introduction of a new MV Agusta supersport model appeared in the summer of 2008, when the Italian manufacturer wasn’t yet owned by Harley-Davidson. Even so, the new model was spied for the first time just yesterday, close to the factory in Varese, Italy. It looks more compact than its bigger brother, but the design (very similar to that of the F4 model) makes us think that this precise test bike was disguised so that it would pass unnoticed. Well, it didn’t and these photos reveal some details indicating the fact that underneath the fairing is something else: the single-sided swingarm was replaced with a classic one shaped like those found on supersport models, the clutch is mounted higher, the fork arms have a smaller diameter and the original undertail silencers have been replaced by a single lateral one.

According to Italian sources, the future MV Agusta supersport model will weigh in at 353 lbs (dry) and will be powered by a 3-cylinder engine displacing 675cc and developing an impressive 140hp at 14.000rpm. If this bike ends up on the showroom floors with these characteristics, we can only say it will be a very competitive model, if not the best in its class.

This project, which began while MV Agusta was still managed by Claudio Castiglioni, represents an important piece in the plans to revamp the Italian company and the proof is that developing of the F3 was continued even after Harley-Davidson bought MV Agusta.

MotoRevue’s Jérôme Vannesson has put his photoshop skills to work in order to show how the 2010 Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory might look in the opinion of the French motorcycle journalists. This model is expected to be released at the EICMA show in November and, like the Factory edition before it, to feature forged wheels, Öhlins suspension and a multitude of carbon fiber bodywork pieces.

Practically a stripped down RSV4, the Tuono V4 Factory has what it takes to go against the Ducati Streetfighter, especially if we consider the 160hp that the bike will supposedly benefit of according to MotoRevue.

Writing about the 2009 Victory Vision, I didn’t had enough fingers on one hand to count the number of models available, so their 2010 lineup simplifies things at least from that point of view. Instead of having the Victory Vision Street/Premium/Tour/Tour Comfort/Tour Premium and a very beautiful 10th Anniversary Vision Tour, they’ve simply kept the Victory Vision Tour and created an all-new Vision 8-Ball model for 2010.

That’s rather interesting because we expected the Vision family to grow even bigger, but at least it makes it easier for customers to pick a bike.

Get the Flash Player to see the videos.

As promised, Yamaha has today made public the photos and information of the reverse-cylinder 2010 YZ450F motocross model, the one about which the motorcycle press has speculated so much over the summer. And reasons to speculate were more than plenty. To begin with, this is the first modern dirt bike to feature a reversed cylinder, a construction method that centralizes inertial mass and strengthens the intake track in order for the engine to develop more power and the bike to handle sweeter overall. Also, better throttle response is achieved because the cylinder is offset, meaning that the connecting rod is vertical when everything goes bang in the cylinder. This also reduces the friction between the piston and the cylinder.

Tom has a BS degree in Industrial Design from the Appalachian State University in the US and the electric sportbike, that he designed and constructed in a single semester, features an 84-volt lithium-ion battery, which powers a three-phase AC motor that produces 105 lb feet of torque and 46 hp. The batteries offer the ION a 60-mile range, while the top speed is an estimated 80 mph.

After showing his creation to an impressed audience, Tom took the ION for a test ride, so here’s the video from the event.
