Buell’s 2010 lineup wouldn’t have been complete without the notorious Ulysses models, the XB12X sportbike and XB12XT sport-touring one. Both motorcycles are powered by the smooth, reliable 1203 cc air-cooled engine and feature the appropriate wheelbase and ground clearance in order to prove efficient both on paved roads and unpaved roads. At a first glance, the Ulysses XB12XT model stands out thanks to the standard side and top cases, but it also comes with heated grips and tall windscreen, like any touring motorcycle should.

Buell likes to consider the 1125CR a modern day café racer and while the perfect blending of class-leading performance with sinister styling and a wicked attitude to push the boundaries of the streetfighter category means they’re not at all far from the truth, we’ll just go ahead and say that this bike is close to being the ultimate in streetfighter performance and style. What qualifies it is the fact that it is pretty much a stripped down 1125R (a veritable superbike).

Our recent post about the Millyard Viper V10 motorcycle started our curiosity regarding such huge powerplants being mounted on vehicles that are supposed to be fast, but also very agile. Our luck was to come across yet another two-wheeler powered by the same 8.0-litre V10 engine donated by a Dodge Viper car. It seems that this is a Boss Hoss motorcycle (originally powered a V8 engine) that got a serious upgrade.

The pictures were taken a few years back in Daytona, so it seems that the V10 thought has been haunting innovative minds for quite a while now. They actually show a nice (big, but nice) looking bike with a supercar (instead of muscle car) engine, but that’s pretty much it. Should I even remind you that Allen Millyard’s bike is an entirely new creation?

Yamaha and Toyota have plans to build hybrid motorcycle

It looks more like a scooter to me, but it’s true. The word in Europe is that Yamaha and Toyota will team up to build the first hybrid motorcycle. We’ve even heard that it’s gonna be dubbed the ‘Prius’ (no, not the buzz car) and that it will be powered by both a 20bhp internal combustion engine and an electric motor, but that’s more than we can take. How’s that for you?

The internal combustion engine will be a 250cc horizontal single with two jobs to do: send power to the rear wheel and to a generator in order to supply the batteries with electricity. Everything is supposedly done through a high-tech ECU.

2010 MV Agusta Brutale spied in Spain

The fellows at MCN got their hands on the latest spy shots of the 2010 MV Agusta Brutale. The pictures were taken earlier this week at the Almeria circuit in Spain and they reveal a new chassis and styling. More precisely, the steel trellis frame has been redesigned, while the new headlight is probably the most obvious change of this new model year. Apparently, the tank and seat carry on unchanged.

In what the engine is concerned, this is currently known to have suffered no significant upgrade and, given the fact that two bikes have been caught during tests, we reckon the 989cc and 1078cc versions will be kept as well.

There’s no official word from Agusta on this model yet.

2010 BMW F800R Chris Pfeiffer replica (for lucky Europeans)

At the beginning of 2010, BMW will sell a limited number (only 68 units, to be precise) of BMW F800R Chris Pfeiffer replicas for the old continent only.

Based on the standard F800R, the bike will come with a blue/white/red paintjob and a sticker kit to be fitted by the rider itself. Also, the rear wheel is painted black and the front one white, just like on Pfeiffer’s bike. Given the fact that this is a stunt bike replica, there is no need for a headlamp mini fairing, while the Akrapovic street legal end-can is a must. LED items complete the package.

Allen Millyard is a British bike builder who likes to think BIG. Of course, this reflects on his work and this is how we ended up writing about his 500bhp motorcycle. Called the Millyard Viper V10, this two-wheeler is closely related to the famous Dodge Viper supercar because of a ’small’ detail: it is powered by the enormous 8-litre V10 engine.

We haven’t used the term ‘muscle bike’ so far, but we believe that this would be a good starting point. This thing is both long and muscular!

The impressive motorcycle caught MCN’s attention, so they made a fairly short video so far and plan to extend the subject in the August 26 and September 2 issues of the British motorcycle magazine. Follow the jump for MCN’s video.

It might seem that some things are there to look the same for ever and ever, but life is no fairy tale and as things are evolving, people are trying to reinvent the past with what they got on their hands now. For instance, Brammofan has come up with a very interesting way to promote the famous Brammo Enertia electric motorcycle with excellent results. People are sending in Photoshop creations such as the “Enertiaryder” and the “Terminator Enertia” as part of a contest that they have going on. Any ideas from you?

Jorge Lorenzo renews his contract with Yamaha

During these last few weeks, MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo has been oscillating between Fiat Yamaha (his current team) and Ducati Marlboro for the 2010 season. While Ducati’s multi-million dollar offer did sound tempting, Lorenzo has decided to renew his contract with Yamaha and will continue being Valentino Rossis’s skilled teammate. It seems that riding the best bike for the job is more important for a racing rider than any financial offer.

‘Today is a good day because I have decided to remain with the Yamaha factory team in 2010. It was a very important decision and that’s why I have had to take the last few weeks to make it, but I think that this is the best decision for me in this moment,’ said Lorenzo.

‘We have no doubt that he has the ability and drive to become MotoGP world champion and we are proud that he has decided to remain with Yamaha, despite having received some very serious approaches from some of our competitors. This timely decision now allows us to focus on the present championship and to make definitive plans for our 2010 MotoGP program,’ said Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing.

Pics Aplenty: BMW F 800 Reloaded by AC Schnitzer

BMW’s tuner, AC Schnitzer, presents their latest intervention on a motorcycle. The BMW F 800 Reloaded, as it is called, has suffered multiple changes and upgrades, the sportier look being valued through the infinity of accessories. The mid-sized naked known as the F 800 R now drifts away from its origins and actually looks very similar to its bigger sibling, the K 1300 R, which was also tuned by AC Schnitzer.

Thus, in the list of replaced parts and accessories we find: new front spoiler, which covers the engine almost entirely, Stealth silencer with EC approval and removable DB-Killer, WP central shock, WP fork, crash pads, high performance air filter, wider handlebar and adjustable brake and clutch levers. Also, the F 800 Reloaded was fitted with a new headlight fairing and is covered in a color called Titanium.

So this is how you turn an average F 800 R into a much more aggressive two-wheeler if you’re an experienced German tuner working with both cars and motorcycles.

100mph monkey bike to become world’s fastest

Monkey bikes have never been expensive, breathtaking and neither the less record braking machines, but they do fit in a category of their own and, although never heard before, the words “World’s fastest monkey bike” have lead nine-time Dakar competitor Ivo Kastan to building what’s most likely the fastest ever monkey bike.

The Czech motorcycle enthusiast will take his specially tuned Honda monkey bike at Bonneville later this month, where it plans to take the small blast up to speeds of more than 106mph, confirming the “fastest ever” supposition and also setting a new record for the naked 175cc four-stroke class.

What’s left to say is that the bike features no rear suspension whatsoever, meaning that it can provide a very harsh ride. We wish Ivo Kastan the best of luck for his attempt!

Harley-Davidson thought to the 2010 CVO Softail Convertible as to a limited-production custom motorcycle that will allow riders to customize it (without needing tools) depending on the type of ride they’re planning to take each and every single day. So, by adding or detaching key components, the bike turns out being adequate for all-day touring, two-up cruising or solo profiling.

Based on the belief that good looks shouldn’t affect functionality, the comfortable, modern suspensions are hidden under the chassis, allowing the Softail rear suspension to mimic the clean lines of a vintage hardtail frame.

Power comes from a massive Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110B engine displacing 110ci (1803cc) and delivering an impressive 110 ft. lbs. of torque at 3000 rpm. This unit is rigid-mounted to the frame and coupled to a 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission. Does this sound like a Harley or what?

Suzuki never saw the Hayabusa as a trike, but this doesn’t stop others to customize it in the way they think it will suit them best. This Hayabusa reverse trike was spotted on eBay, where it is posted with a $34,999 asking price.

The biggest disadvantage that the TT-Busa, as it is called, has over the stock bike is the fact that it doesn’t appear to lean. The extra wheel does make it a little bit safer, but gets rid of the Hayabusa fun factor and that’s no advantage. This thing is meant to catch the attention of people as it rolls down the streets with its two custom built front wheels and extended swingarm with 300 rear tire.

eniCycle: one-wheeled, self-balancing…thing. Segway, you lose!

Inspired, most likely, by the always very hard to ride unicycles seen at the circus, the eniCycle excludes the pedaling part from the equation and brings in an electric 1000 watt hub motor that is set into motion by simply leaning your body forward.

It relies on mini-gyroscopes (that measure your vertical angle 100 times a second) and an embedded processor to keep things balanced at all times and that’s what makes it so easy to ride. In fact, Slovenian designer Aleksander Polutnik claims it only takes people about 15 minutes to master the eniCycle.

Polutnik is planning to mass produce the small and funky vehicle as soon as he finds himself a business partner. He has already built two prototypes, but it will take more to make a global unicycle phenomenon out of it.

MotoGP rules are changing and starting to affect the post-race show. Because that often included burnouts and that is in contradiction with the new long-life engine rule, we’re disappointed to announce that smoky celebrations will probably no longer be seen. Valentino Rossi is already conforming.

Also, there will be no ride back together to the pits for crashed motorcycle and rider because dirt can be drawn into the engine and that sure doesn’t lengthen its life. In fact, Nicky Hayden says that “You’ll see people getting a scooter ride back rather than bringing the bike home,”

We know that wheelies aren’t that engine-friendly either and can’t even imagine where the new ruling will bring the MotoGP show.

Officially official: Confederate P120 Fighter

Confederate Motor Company has presented to the public its third amazing example of Hollywood-worthy design and engineering in the form of the 2010 Confederate P120 Fighter. Even after the Hellcat and Wraith models, the P120 Fighter still looks like an alien rode it here from another planet. At least that’s what the crowd at the Quail Lodge seemed to be thinking thins past weekend. The friends at autoblog were there and caught some nice pictures of the new bike, a 120 units Combat Edition.

Although it is scary enough from a standstill, the Confederate P120 Fighter relies on 160 hp and 145 foot-pounds of torque to keep things interesting once on its seat and it is all due to the 120-cubic-inch (1966cc) V-Twin motor. That’s the only thing that looks familiar on the bike.

World’s first Custom Green Chopper has OCC’s signature on it

Orange County Choppers was commissioned by Siemens to build an entirely electric motorcycle in order to raise environmental awareness. Given the New York-based custom motorcycle builder’s tradition of building noisy and very spectacular choppers powered by a good old V-Twin engine, Siemens’s proposition might have sounded a bit unusual at first, but it was a challenge waiting to be taken.

The end result was unveiled yesterday at the Time Warner Center by Siemens and Paul Teutul Senior itself and we must say that it looks as good as any other OCC creation so far, if not even better, given the futuristic tendency.

But while the looks aspect is discussable, the incontestable fact is that the 27-horsepower electric motor from Advanced DC powers the Siemens electric chopper to a 100+ mph top speed. The six batteries take five hours to charge and supply the bike with electricity for around 60 miles, which is quite decent.

OCC built the Siemens bike in a single month and it is all on tape and scheduled to air on TLC on Thursday, October 22 at 9PM.

Siemens plans to take their bike on a worldwide tour in 2010 and then auction it and donate the money to "a charitable cause that will help benefit the environment." Yes, that means you can even end up owning it if you’re a man with deep pockets and the fact that OCC says that it currently has no plans to mass produce an electric chopper until demand is here, makes this creation even more unique.

But it’s for real. The 28-year-old celebrity was pictured as a Harley bad boy just yesterday after lunching at Italian restaurant Cafe Med in Los Angeles. He was also wearing a very shiny half-helmet and a jacket from his fashion label, William Rast.

Lazareth’s four-wheeled blast that is ridden like a motorcycle and is best known as the amazing quad of Batman junior, the Wazuma, has a mind-blowing price of 198,900 euro (around $284,300).

There’s nothing quite like it on the market, so we’ll have to wait and see how many wealthy people are willing to pay that much on a 500 hp machine that features no safety system, such as ABS or traction control.

Triumph ads an all new motorcycle to their 2010 cruiser lineup. Called the Thunderbird, this is one of those bikes that nobody saw coming and yet everyone knew about. While we heard more and more questions about Triumph planning to build a V-Twin engine, the UK-based motorcycle manufacturer went along and developed the largest production parallel-Twin motor to power their latest jewel.

Heritage isn’t something that bike manufacturers ever forget about and Triumph’s cruiser genes are found all over the new Thunderbird, a motorcycle that represents the very essence of modern British bike engineering and design.

Casey Stoner will not compete in the next three MotoGP races!

Casey Stoner’s health state has determined him and his medical staff from Australia to take the decision of missing from the next three MotoGP races. Ducati Marlboro team has made the news public together with the mention that Stoner will return to MotoGP racing in October, at the Portuguese GP. He will meanwhile be replaced by Mika Kallio on the Ducati Marlboro factory bike.

Apparently, the Australian MotoGP rider suffers from chronic fatigue determined by a virus – most likely caught during the Barcelona race – and also by the fact that Stoner pushed himself so hard during these last five races.

Together with this decision, Stoner is forced to give up to his current 3rd place in the Championship as well. Afflicted, he commented:

“After five extremely difficult races due to my health, I returned to Australia to visit the sports doctors who have looked after me for many years. We have taken the difficult decision not to contest the next three rounds of the championship, to allow my body time to recover from the recent stress. The doctors believe that during the Barcelona race I was suffering from a virus, and, that I subsequently pushed my body too hard, leading to problems that have caused my fatigue since then. The doctors are continuing with many tests to try to understand these problems and make sure it does not happen again. I have spoken with Ducati and thank them for their understanding at this time. I feel very sorry for the factory, my team, my sponsors and the fans and I am also disappointed because the bike in the last races has been very competitive. I will be doing everything possible to come back at full strength for Portugal.”

For 2010, Harley-Davidson took the Electra Glide and gave it a shot of steroids. The end result is even more performance and much greater touring looks. Now powered by a Twin Cam 103ci engine, which is 10 percent torqueier than the Twin Cam 96 engine, the all new Electra Glide Ultra Limited had to feature a new chassis that would withstand the new demands involved. The single-spar, rigid backbone frame and a stout swingarm sound like just the right components to start with.

During the British Supersport race at Brands Hatch on Sunday, Chris Martin’s Kawasaki motorcycle broke down, locking the rear wheel. The rider was thrown from the seat and sent bouncing way over the barrier during what has to be one of the most dangerous crashes of this racing season. In fact, this ended the season for Chris Martin, but he is expected back on two wheels next year.

Team Gearlink Kawasaki has issued a report regarding the crash:

Chris has suspected 3 broken vertebrae, will not know for sure until neck/back specialist has seen him. He has broken his ankle and will now be out of action for the rest of the season.....:-((

A new motorcycle company is born - Lorenzo Lamas Cycles

Actor Lorenzo Lamas, best known by the motorcycle world thanks to the Renegade series from the 1990s, has teamed up with Ralph Randolph of Knockout Motorcycles to form a new motorcycle company named Lorenzo Lamas Cycles.

Ruthless Engineering: Erik Buell destroying the Blast

Erik Buell, founder of the company with the same name, managed to amaze the motorcycle industry from around the world by destroying his own creation, a model which no further represents Buell Motorcycles: the Blast.

The Buell Blast was manufactured for 9 years in the United States and it was powered by a 492 cc single-cylinder engine developing 34 hp. Given also the bike’s light weight, the Blast stood out as a user-friendly and very reliable motorcycle.

Instead of showing how the 2010 model year will look like, Erik Buell brought bad news to the British from Mac Motorcycles, which will start producing a range of motorcycles powered precisely by the engine repudiated by the creator itself.
